STRATTUS Clinical Services to Evaluate Competency
Our Commitment to the Least Restrictive Environment The philosophy of "Toward Independent Living and Learning" (TILL) is that every individual, regardless of his or her level of need and ability, has the opportunity to pursue optimal independent functioning in the least restrictive environment. TILL's services support this goal by developing and operating personalized and integrated community-based services. TILL's Clinical Competency Evaluation Team from STRATTUS Composed of senior level clinicians, with expertise in the field of developmental disabilities, each possesses specialized experience necessary to appropriately assess decision making by individuals with cognitive differences. The Team is well aware of individuals' differing levels of ability and adheres to the commitment of "least restrictive environment." Why is an evaluation needed? A formal evaluation is needed to determine if a person is capable of making their own decisions or in need of additional supports such as guardianship and/or conservatorship. Who does the evaluation team consist of? The competency evaluation for individuals with intellectual disabilities requires a three person team consisting of a licensed psychiatrist, a licensed psychologist and an independently licensed social worker. The competency evaluation for a person with mental health needs consists of a single clinician, either a licensed psychiatrist or a licensed psychologist. Where is the evaluation done? Evaluations are typically done in our Dedham based clinic but it is understood that off-site appointments are sometimes required. In keeping with our commitment to accessible services, outreach scheduling often can be accommodated by the psychologist and LISCW clinician. How much will the evaluation cost? Evaluation costs vary depending on the need for the full STRATTUS team; a partial team, often the psychologist and social worker dyad; or a single licensed clinician as well as the complexity of the evaluation. Fees are market-based and competitive. Call STRATTUS @ TILL for more information We provide services offsite throughout the greater Boston area at client homes, schools, day treatment and work settings.
