TILL Central—defined and directed by the individual participants
This concept was created in response to graduates from the school systems who would benefit from extensive community involvement and variety in choice and activities. As a supplement to our Day Habilitation programs, those involved in TILL Central services are taught to make choices and uniquely express their preferences. A typical week’s schedule for TILL Central participants might include volunteering at a hospital or senior center, exercising at a gym, working on a produce farm, volunteering at a food shelter, producing a video at the local cable station, or learning dance routines while using a wheelchair. Some of our sites have developed an entrepreneurial spirit through their own recycling business as well as “Candy Central”, a refreshment delivery business.
A menu of activities in which participants are empowered to control their own schedule based on learning to make choices and developing new interests, is one of TILL Centrals’ primary themes. “Our senior citizens and staff were touched by the graceful, talented and enthusiastic 'Dances
with Wheels'. We enjoyed watching the entertainment and the delicious dinner that was served.” Donna, COA Director ![]() ![]() ![]() |
